A special session of the Annual Conference has been called by Bishop Leonard E. Fairley (¶603.2) for Saturday, October 18, beginning at 9 a.m. Members will act upon recommendations from the Jeremiah Teams related to redistricting, reorganization of conference staff and missional priorities.
The Annual Conference approved holding this
session virtually during the 2025 regular session.

Membership Makeup of the Special Session
CLERGY MEMBERSHIP
The following clergy have voice and vote at Annual Conference:
- Active and Retired Associate Members, Active and Retired Deacon Full Members, Active and Retired Elder Full Members, Provisional Deacon Members, Provisional Elder Members, Active Licensed Local Pastors currently appointed, and Retired Licensed Local Pastors currently appointed. The clergy above need to register for the special session to receive their voter ID.
The following clergy have voice, but do not have a vote, at Annual Conference:
- Any previously licensed local pastor not currently appointed, recognized retired licensed local pastor not currently appointed, clergy from other annual conferences serving in S.C., clergy from other Methodist denominations serving in S.C., clergy from other non-Methodist Christian denominations serving in S.C., honorably located clergy, administratively located clergy, and clergy with affiliate membership in S.C. The clergy above need to register for the special session.
Pastors will need to complete a Lay Member Change Form to replace a sitting Lay Member.
- Guests, alternates and other laity will not need to register.
LAY MEMBERSHIP
The Lay Membership of this called session consists of those lay members who were elected to be Lay Members to the regular 2025 Annual Conference during the 2024 Charge Conference cycles.
- Any alternate who replaced a lay member at the June 2025 Annual Conference is now the official Lay Member for that Charge or Ministry. These persons will need to register online to be verified and receive a voter ID.
Lay membership will also include:
- Active and retired Diaconal Ministers, Certified Lay Ministers currently assigned, active Deaconesses, Home Missioners under S.C. Episcopal appointment, District Lay Leaders, Conference Lay Leaders, Conference Directors of Lay Servant Ministries, United Women in Faith president, United Methodist Men president, Conference Young Adult representative, Conference Youth representatives, Conference elected Quadrennial Lay Officers, District Youth and District Young Adults.
VIRTUAL SESSION TRAINING AND VOTING
VIRTUAL SESSION DETAILS
The virtual session will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025. It will be live-streamed on the conference website for those who are not clergy or laity members with voice and or vote.
Clergy and Lay members will need to register online. The registration is at the bottom of this page. A unique voter ID will be assigned to those who register. It will be distributed via the email address used by laity to register. Clergy IDs will be sent to their Conference email address. The unique IDs will not be sent out until a few days prior to the Called Session. A virtual webinar link for the special session will be sent with the voter IDs. This will be the same format used in 2020-2023 during the virtual sessions.
TRAINING
Two webinar voting training sessions will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025. Details will be sent to those who have registered for the special session.
